Mayor, Alderman Thomas Gordon, has announced Air Ambulance NI and Rural Support as his mayoral charities for his 2026-2027 term of office.
Air Ambulance NI
Air Ambulance NI, in partnership with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, provides the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service for Northern Ireland.
This service delivers urgent medical care across the province, operating seven days a week for 12 hours each day. The HEMS team responds to patients who are seriously ill or injured, bringing emergency pre-hospital care directly to the scene with the aim of saving lives, brains, and limbs.
The aircraft can reach anywhere in Northern Ireland in approximately 25 minutes. On average, the medical team is called upon twice daily, attending incidents such as serious road traffic collisions, farm or workplace accidents, sporting and leisure incidents, and medical emergencies.
Since its inception in July 2017, the team has been tasked over 5,500 times.
As a local charity, Air Ambulance NI aims to raise £3 million each year to sustain this vital service, making public donations essential.
Rural Support
Rural Support provides a listening and signposting service for farmers and farming families across Northern Ireland through its support line. It covers a wide range of issues from health and wellbeing to social farming, provides access to a business mentor and future and succession planning.
It can also provide face to face support and help sourcing information and advice.
***All donations will be split equally between the Mayor’s charities***
